Elisabeth is both a teacher and a business owner. In 1985 she moved to the United States from Dresden, East Germany. In more than one way, she pulled herself up by the bootstraps. From speaking little to no English, she went to getting a Master’s degree in Art History with highest honors from the University of Michigan in 1994. From having no background in business, she went to building EZRentals. She has been teaching at Washtenaw Community College and advanced from part-time instructor to full-time instructor and for many years to chair of the Humanities Department. She is not only known as an excellent teacher, but also built a reputation as a public speaker in the area. Many awards, including travel grants from the Fulbright-Hayes Foundation as well as the National Endowment of the Humanities, attest to the quality of her work. Since 2000 she has been running EZRentals. She brings the same dedication to tenants as a business owner that she has brought to her students as a teacher. By focusing on human relationships, she is trying to make a difference in the teaching world as well as the rental business.
